New York Knicks player Jalen Brunson said he chose basketball over a social life during high school. In a joint appearance with his mother on the 'Things No One Tells You' podcast, Brunson explained that his parents taught him he only had the time and energy to excel at two of three things in high school: grades, basketball, or a social life. He said school was not an option to decline, so the choice came down to basketball or his social life, and he chose basketball. Brunson added that the support he received from those around him helped lay the foundation for his success, and that his friends played an unexpected role in helping him stay on track with his goals.
