Over 1,000 Displaced, 340 Houses Burnt In Taraba Communal Conflict

A three-day communal conflict between Mambilla and Fulani communities in Geroji settlements, Mbamnga Ward of Sardauna Local Government Area, Taraba State, has displaced over 1,000 people, mostly women, children, and the elderly. The violence, which erupted on September 16, 2026, resulted in about 340 houses being burnt, with many residents fleeing to neighboring communities and across the border into Cameroon. An unverified number of people were reportedly killed, and several others are missing. The clashes caused extensive destruction of homes, food stocks, livestock, and other livelihood sources across settlements including Wuro Buba, Wuro Ardo Bashiru, Wuro Wakili Idrisa, Wuro Saleh Petel, Wuro Hassan Jaji, Wuro Alhaji Jibo, and Wuro Alhaji Manu.
