The Federal Capital Territory Secondary Education Board (FCT-SEB) has called on students to cultivate deep reading, critical thinking, and information verification habits before sharing content online. The charge was made on Monday in Abuja during an essay and spelling bee competition organised by the Sahara Deck and Zero Meridian Decks of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) for FCT secondary school students. Representing the Acting Secretary/Director of FCT-SEB, Mrs. Elizabeth Godwin, Mrs. Theresa Onuora-Oguno said the competition's theme, 'Read. Think, Verify: Building Critical Information Literacy in the Digital Age,' was timely given the volume of information available to young people through digital platforms. She noted that students have unlimited knowledge on their phones but are also exposed to falsehood.
