Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appealed for intensified efforts to rescue more than 40 schoolchildren abducted in Borno State 137 days ago. The children were kidnapped from Mussa community in Askira-Uba Local Government Area on May 15, 2026, the same day gunmen attacked schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Makinde made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving the report of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Oyo abductions. He said no Nigerian child should be left at the mercy of terrorists simply for seeking an education.
