The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old security guard, Bright Bassey Elijah, attached to a nursery and primary school in Calabar. The arrest follows an allegation of sexual assault against a five-year-old pupil, reported by the school's proprietress on September 28, 2026. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the suspect was allegedly caught taking the child to an uncompleted building near the school where the assault reportedly occurred. The suspect is in police custody, and preliminary investigation is ongoing before transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
