The African Energy Chamber (AEC) has expressed support for the planned 700,000 barrels-per-day Dangote refinery in Lamu, Kenya. This comes amid a court order restricting activities on the land earmarked for the project, following a petition by 133 residents claiming ancestral heritage. The Malindi Environment and Land Court issued an interim order to maintain the status quo pending a hearing scheduled for October 14, 2026. The order has raised concerns over potential delays to the $15 billion-$16 billion project.
