The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) warned traders in Kano against abusing Naira notes, emphasizing that the currency is a symbol of national pride and must be treated with respect. During a sensitization exercise and roadshow at major markets, led by the Currency Operations and Branch Management Department, CBN officials highlighted the high cost of replacing dirty, soiled, and mutilated notes. Ibrahim Yahaya, Deputy Director, Planning and Development Division, represented the Director of Currency Operations, Dr. Adetona Adedeji, and stated that proper handling of the Naira could avoid these costs.
