Aliko Dangote remains optimistic about the launch of his $16 billion Lamu Refinery in Kenya, despite a court ruling that ordered the status quo to be maintained on the disputed site. The Malindi Environment and Land Court issued the order following a suit by 133 residents of Chandavai in Lamu County, who claim ancestral rights to the land. The court adjourned the case to October 14, temporarily barring activities on the site. The African Energy Chamber condemned the order and called for a swift resolution of the dispute.
