Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for the immediate release of five Nigerians reportedly arrested in Borno State for wearing T-shirts with the inscription 'Tinubu Must Go.' In a statement issued through the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku argued that citizens cannot be detained for expressing a political opinion. He said authorities should explain how wearing a T-shirt had become an offence in a democracy. Atiku also linked the arrests to the rising cost of fuel, food, transportation, and electricity, recalling President Bola Tinubu's past opposition to former President Goodluck Jonathan's fuel policy.
