A 2024 report by PwC Nigeria indicates that over 70 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria are family businesses, contributing nearly 50 per cent of the country's GDP. The 2026 Family Business Summit, scheduled for October 15 to 17, will address these issues under the theme 'Beyond the Founder: Scaling Family Businesses Across Generations'. The summit will focus on succession, governance, leadership, capital, and innovation. Convener Oghenevwoke Ighure stated that discussions will examine decisions needed to support the continuity and development of family-owned businesses.
