The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a suit seeking to void the emergence of former Governor Donald Duke as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). Justice Mohammed Umar held that the suit, filed by an aggrieved PRP presidential aspirant, Mr. Yakubu Kingsley, was statute-barred. The judge upheld preliminary objections raised by Duke and the party, noting that the suit was a pre-election matter filed in violation of Section 285(9) of the Constitution. The suit was filed 16 days after the PRP's presidential primary election results were made public, exceeding the 14-day limit.
