I couldn’t walk — Adekunle Gold recounts sickle cell crisis on flight to Tanzania

Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold, whose real name is Adekunle Kosoko, has recounted a severe sickle cell crisis that occurred during a flight to Tanzania. In an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, he said the crisis left him unable to walk and forced him into a wheelchair after the plane landed in Ethiopia. He initially thought the stomach pain was caused by something he ate at the airport. Adekunle Gold has openly spoken about living with the genetic blood disorder.
