Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 election, has raised concerns over overcrowding at the Ramin Kura Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Sokoto State. Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, made the observation on Wednesday in a statement on his X handle after visiting the camp during a two-day engagement in Sokoto. He said the camp, located in Sokoto North Local Government Area, houses more than 1,000 IDPs, with some rooms accommodating up to 10 people. Obi noted that the camp lacks adequate toilet facilities, a primary healthcare centre, and a basic school for children, and called for urgent government intervention.
