Burkina Faso's Minister of Foreign Affairs held discussions with counterparts from Iran and Algeria on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Iranian minister expressed gratitude for Burkina Faso's participation in the funeral of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and for solidarity against external aggression. Iran also expressed willingness to strengthen ties with the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and proposed a meeting in the Iran-Confederation of Sahel States format. Burkina Faso welcomed the growing cooperation dynamic.
