Sultan urges religious leaders to prevent maternal, child deaths

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has called for intensified community action to protect women and children from preventable deaths. He made the call in Sokoto at a two-day orientation program for religious leaders under the 'Faith for Life' initiative, organized by the National Orientation Agency with support from UNICEF and the European Union. The program brought together Imams, Islamic scholars, and Christian clergy from all 23 local government areas of Sokoto State. It addressed maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, vaccination, and community wellbeing.
