The Kenyan government has announced plans to acquire a stake in the proposed $16 billion Lamu oil refinery, which is associated with Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote. According to President William Ruto, the investment will be made through Kenya's National Infrastructure Fund. The refinery project, estimated at KSh2.2 trillion, is expected to boost regional energy capacity.
