Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth emphasized Parliament's oversight role, stating that MPs must inspect government programmes and projects to ensure effective use of public resources. His comments came after Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi raised concerns over limited access to oversee ongoing works on the International Specialised Hospital of Uganda (ISHU) in Lubowa, Wakiso district. Ssenyonyi noted that despite government committing Shs1.5 trillion to the project, legislators have been denied access. He mentioned that even the former Minister for Health was locked outside the premises.
