A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday remanded Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), at Kuje Correctional Centre. The court gave the ruling after Adeyemi pleaded not guilty to an eight-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and impersonation. He was arraigned before Justice Mohammed Umar following the takeover of the case by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, appeared for the Federal Government. The case is part of a wider controversy surrounding the purported PFIPC and claims that Adeyemi presented the organisation as a presidentially-backed government body, which the Presidency has denied.
