The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it registered 9.3 million young Nigerians during the 2026 Continuous Voter Registration exercise. INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, announced the figure in Abuja during the investiture of nine INEC Youth Ambassadors. The ambassadors were appointed to deepen the commission's engagement with young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election. Amupitan said the registration figure reinforces the critical role of active youth participation in the electoral process.
