King Mohammed VI appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as Morocco's first female prime minister on Tuesday. The royal palace said the appointment followed the September 23, 2026 parliamentary election, in which her party, the centrist Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), won 97 out of 395 seats. El Mansouri has been tasked with negotiating a coalition and forming a new government. She is a lawyer who served as housing minister in the outgoing government and mayor of Marrakech.
