The Kano State Government has employed 2,037 additional health workers to address manpower shortages in hospitals and health facilities across the state. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf disclosed this during the presentation of appointment letters to the new recruits at the Government House in Kano. The recruitment was necessitated by the shortage of health personnel, worsened by the migration of doctors, nurses, and other professionals. The new personnel include 250 medical doctors, 40 pharmacists, 250 nurses, 250 midwives, 150 senior community health extension workers, 50 junior community health extension workers, and 50 epidemiologists, among others.
