Amnesty International has rejected the Nigerian Police Force's claim that five men arrested in Maiduguri while wearing 'Tinubu Must Go' T-shirts were in possession of drugs. The organization described the police explanation as an attempt to justify what it called unlawful detention. The Borno State Police Command denied that the arrests were politically motivated, stating that the men conspired to print and wear the T-shirts with the intention of causing a breach of public peace. Amnesty International is demanding the immediate release of the protesters.
