In the first nine months of 2026, the Nigerian stock market saw significant growth, gaining N63.73 trillion, which is about a 64% increase. This rise in value was due to several reasons, including improvements in foreign exchange policies, strong company earnings, and increased confidence from investors. At the beginning of 2026, the total value of stocks on the Nigerian Exchange was N99.376 trillion, and by the end of September, it had reached N163.105 trillion. The NGX All Share Index, which tracks stock performance, also increased by over 61% during this period. The market experienced a boost when Nigeria was reinstated as a Frontier Market by FTSE Russell, which encouraged more investment. In addition, the upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) for Dangote Refinery, valued at N2.1 trillion, attracted attention and investment. Experts believe that the strong performance of the stock market is due to better economic conditions, rising oil prices, and positive corporate results. They expect the market to remain strong as the year ends, although some caution is advised due to potential political risks. Overall, the outlook for the Nigerian stock market is optimistic as it continues to attract both local and foreign investors.
