President Bola Tinubu stated that Nigeria's economy has improved significantly during his time in office. He said that the changes his government made have addressed the country's economic problems instead of making them worse. Speaking on Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary, Tinubu highlighted that the economy grew by over 4% in the past year, with both the oil and non-oil sectors contributing to this growth. He mentioned that issues like oil theft have decreased, inflation is much lower than before, and the country's foreign reserves have increased. The foreign exchange market has become more stable, and Nigeria earned over $6 billion from non-oil exports in 2025, which he described as real money for Nigerian businesses. Tinubu emphasized that these improvements are not just claims; they have been recognized by international observers, journalists, and organizations that monitor economic conditions. He noted that foreign investment in Nigeria is also rising, indicating that the private sector supports the changes his government has implemented.
