A court in Gombe has canceled Ali Isa J.C.'s nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Balanga/Billiri area in the upcoming House of Representatives election. The court ruled that Isa was not eligible to run because he joined the APC only 16 days before the primary election, which did not meet legal requirements. The court ordered the APC to hold a new primary election within 30 days and stated that Isa cannot participate in this new election. The previous primary, where Isa was chosen as the candidate, was also declared invalid due to issues with how it was conducted. This decision came after a challenge from another politician, Alfred John Atajiri, who questioned Isa's eligibility and the primary process. The court's ruling emphasizes the need for political parties to follow electoral laws as they prepare for the elections in 2027. In summary, the APC must organize a new primary to select a candidate for the Balanga/Billiri constituency, and Isa is barred from participating in it.
