Troops Killed 554 Terrorists, Apprehended  1,333, Rescued  1,736 in Third Quarter

In the third quarter of 2026, the Nigerian military reported significant achievements in fighting terrorism and crime. They killed 554 terrorists and criminals, arrested 1,333, and rescued 1,736 civilians who had been kidnapped. Additionally, 333 terrorists surrendered, and the military recovered 244 weapons along with over 8,000 rounds of ammunition. During this period, the military also shut down 104 illegal oil refining sites and seized more than 1.6 million liters of stolen fuel, which helped weaken the operations of criminals and terrorists in the country. Major General Michael Onoja, who spoke at a press conference, shared that there were 367 attacks by criminals during this time, with various military operations responding effectively to these threats. He noted that the number of attacks and military successes varied from month to month, with some months seeing more activity than others. Overall, the military's efforts showed a strong commitment to maintaining security in Nigeria, despite fluctuations in the number of attacks and successes.
