The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has criticized the arrest of members from the "Tinubu-Must-Go" movement in Maiduguri, Borno State. They believe this action by Governor Babagana Zulum is a misuse of power aimed at intimidating people who oppose the government. Kola Ologbondiyan, the ADC's media director, stated that such arrests are an attempt to silence citizens and that expressing political opinions, like calling for President Tinubu to leave, is not a crime. He accused some governors of trying to please President Tinubu at the expense of the people's rights. Ologbondiyan insisted that these actions would not stop Nigerians from voting in the upcoming elections. The ADC has called for the immediate release of the arrested individuals and for their safety to be ensured. They also urged international organizations to pay attention to the situation and help protect Nigeria's democratic rights. Lastly, Ologbondiyan reminded that when the APC was in opposition, they were allowed to criticize the government without fear of arrest, highlighting the importance of free speech.
