The article discusses a project by the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) aimed at helping about fifty vulnerable women in Bulongo, a town in North Kivu, recover socially and economically after being displaced due to violence in the area. Launched on September 24, 2026, with a budget of $48,000, the project will provide training in various trades such as livestock farming, baking, small-scale commerce, and tailoring. The women will also receive tools and equipment to start their own income-generating activities. Emery Chibi from MONUSCO explained that this initiative is part of a broader effort to empower women and support community recovery after conflict. Many of the women expressed gratitude for the project, viewing it as a vital support system to help them overcome poverty and reintegrate into their communities after years of displacement. The project is being implemented with the help of a local organization, AFNAC, which will assist the women throughout their training. The aim is not only to improve their living conditions but also to foster social unity in a region that has experienced significant upheaval. During the project launch, women's groups in Bulongo praised MONUSCO’s efforts and urged the government to provide more support to women affected by the war. They emphasized the importance of peace for the successful reintegration of displaced people and the overall development of the community.
