Lemuel Bray, an 85-year-old man, moved to the Philippines to find more affordable long-term care after facing challenges in the United States. He remarried there and enjoys a lower cost of living, which allows him to receive better healthcare and support. Bray, a disabled veteran, struggled with health issues and high living costs in the U.S., especially after the death of his wife. He discovered that moving to the Philippines would be more economical and connected with a woman online, eventually marrying her. Now living in a two-bedroom condo for about $500 a month, Bray appreciates the friendly community and respect for elders in the Philippines. He has hired a caregiver for around $111 a month and has access to English-speaking doctors. Although he misses his family in the U.S., he feels comfortable and plans to spend the rest of his life in the Philippines.
