A group called Degroup is pushing for political power to be rotated to the Kogi West Senatorial District in 2027. They believe this issue should not be debated any further. At a press conference in Lokoja, Kogi State, the group's spokesperson, Barrister Shaba Ibrahim, expressed their commitment to this cause and criticized a recent summit organized by the Kogi State Government, claiming that some of their members faced intimidation and harassment during the event. Shaba acknowledged that while the current governor has the right to seek a second term, it does not negate their demand for power to shift to Kogi West. Other speakers at the conference, like Alhaji Muhammed Sulaiman Baba and retired Colonel Kabir Ndamadu, supported the call for rotation, emphasizing the importance of fairness and justice. They also criticized the summit for not promoting peaceful dialogue, as some supporters of the power rotation campaign were reportedly attacked and had their banners destroyed. Despite these challenges, the group remains determined to advocate for their cause.
