Rotimi Amaechi, who is the Vice-Presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has promised to resign if significant changes do not happen in Nigeria within one year after the party wins the 2027 elections. He made this statement during an interview, emphasizing that his administration would focus on improving security, education, and the economy. Amaechi criticized the current government, saying that corruption is a major issue that prevents public funds from being used properly. He expressed concern about the removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Tinubu, arguing that it hasn't benefited the people and has only enriched a few individuals. He highlighted the problem of poverty in Nigeria, questioning how some people can afford to spend lavishly despite the country's economic struggles. Amaechi noted that Nigeria relies heavily on imported goods, which he believes is a serious issue. He also mentioned recent incidents where people booed President Tinubu, stating that if the ADC comes to power, they would work to ensure that people would instead applaud their administration. Amaechi urged Nigerians to hold him accountable for the performance of the ADC government, promising to resign if there are no noticeable improvements within a year of taking office.
