A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) named Miss Amanwi Gahtan Ndomchen in Sokoto State has helped the community by providing free health services and training. She screened 250 people for Hepatitis and offered general health checks like blood pressure and blood sugar tests in Kwanawa community, including support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). This health outreach was done with help from organizations like UNICEF and Pathfinder Women and Children Development Initiative. Ndomchen, who is a medical biochemist, said she wanted to raise awareness about health issues since many people only seek medical help when they are very sick. Those who tested positive for Hepatitis will be referred for treatment. In addition to health services, Ndomchen also trained students at Rochas Foundation School in skills like making soaps and cosmetics to help them become self-sufficient. She even provided start-up funds to two of the best students. The school principal praised her efforts, encouraging students to take these skills seriously as traditional jobs are becoming harder to find. Overall, Ndomchen's work has been recognized and appreciated by local health officials and community leaders, who hope more young people will follow her example to make a positive impact in their communities.
