The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Nigeria has stated that true independence for the country, now 66 years old, means being free from poverty, insecurity, and other social issues like illiteracy and disease. They believe that after many challenges, including wars and political instability, Nigerians deserve a government that provides security and welfare as a priority. In their message for Independence Day, IPAC's chairman emphasized that real independence goes beyond just being free from colonial rule; it involves ensuring that all citizens can live safely and prosperously. They urged the government to focus on delivering the benefits of democracy to the people instead of making excuses. With elections approaching in 2027, IPAC encouraged Nigerians to actively participate and choose their leaders wisely. They also called on the electoral commission to ensure fair and transparent elections. IPAC expressed confidence in the resilience of the Nigerian people and urged everyone to work together for a better future. They honored the sacrifices of Nigeria's founders and stressed the importance of making the most of the country’s democratic journey, which has lasted 27 years since 1999. Their overall message is one of hope and commitment to building a stronger, more united Nigeria.
