The Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom State is upset because they lost about 20 million Naira after their planned two-million-man march was postponed. This march was meant to support Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, who are running for president. The police in Akwa Ibom, led by Commissioner Baba Azare, ordered all political activities scheduled for October 1, which was also Nigeria's Independence Day, to be rescheduled due to security concerns. They received information that some people might cause trouble during these events. Benjamin Smith, the State Director of the Obidient Movement, expressed frustration at this decision, claiming it was unfair since the police had previously approved the march. He mentioned that they had already spent a significant amount of money organizing the event and questioned why the police made this decision at the last minute. Smith argued that the police's action violated the right to assemble peacefully as stated in the Nigerian Constitution and stated that they would resist any future cancellations of their events.
