Super Eagles media officer Promise Efoghe stated that fitness concerns related to the pitch in Bissau led to Ola Aina's absence from Nigeria's 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in Tuesday's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Aina, a Nottingham Forest defender who returned to the squad this month, was an unused substitute. The condition of the pitch was cited as the reason for his non-participation.
