IATA: Africa’s Air Cargo Demand Up 3% Despite Capacity Surge

Africa's air cargo market recorded a 3% year-on-year increase in demand in August 2026, according to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The growth was accompanied by a 14% expansion in cargo capacity. Africa's demand growth remained below the global average of 4.4%, while worldwide international demand grew by 5.3%. Global capacity declined marginally by 0.1% year-on-year, though international capacity increased by 0.1%.
