Nigeria’s Ogunyemi to lead Canadian medical association

Nigerian-born physician Dr. Bolu Ogunyemi has been elected to lead the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), becoming the first Black physician to head the organization. The Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, congratulated Ogunyemi, describing his election as a significant milestone that reflects the capacity of Nigerians to excel in critical sectors globally. Ogunyemi is a clinical Associate Professor of medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and a medical dermatologist practising in St. John’s, with over 15 years of experience in clinical practice, medical education, administration, and healthcare advocacy.
