The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that 9,324,349 young Nigerians newly registered during the 2026 Continuous Voter Registration exercise. INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN, disclosed the figure on Wednesday in Abuja at an event aimed at strengthening engagement with young Nigerians. He was represented by National Commissioner Prof Rhoda Gumus, who said active youth participation is critical to strengthening democracy and public confidence in the electoral process. The commission said the figure underscores the growing importance of youth participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
