Atiku vows to end rigging, strengthen INEC independence

African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar pledged to end election rigging and strengthen the independence of INEC if elected president in 2027. He spoke on Thursday at the ADC headquarters in Abuja during an address marking Nigeria's 66th Independence anniversary, outlining electoral reforms aimed at restoring voters' confidence. Atiku promised to support the prompt public release of polling unit results and said electoral offenders, regardless of political affiliation, would face strict prosecution. He urged citizens to guard their ballots, resist intimidation and hold politicians accountable ahead of the 2027 general elections.
