Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has pardoned 134 prisoners as Nigeria marks 66 years of independence. The pardons were granted in commemoration of the Independence Day anniversary. This gesture is part of the governor's prerogative of mercy. The release of the prisoners is expected to decongest correctional facilities in the state.
