The Federal Government has commenced the construction of a new ultra-modern National Control Centre for the Nigerian Independent System Operator in Osogbo, Osun State. The groundbreaking ceremony was performed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, with support from Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe. The new facility is intended to replace a 64-year-old control centre that no longer meets the demands of operating Nigeria's national grid. Upon completion, the centre will feature integrated Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems, high-definition display walls, and advanced grid analytics to provide real-time visibility and enable rapid intervention during system disturbances.
