Federal government offices and the Ondo State Civil Service Commission in Akure were largely shut on Friday as a three-day warning strike by civil servants began. The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) directed federal, state, and local government workers to embark on the strike over unmet demands. At the Federal Secretariat in Akure, most offices were closed, though a few workers were seen around; they said they had come to attend to personal matters and were not carrying out official duties. A similar situation was observed at the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, where most offices were closed and the few workers present declined to attend to people seeking official services.
