The Kano State Police Command has reiterated the ban on durbar and horse-riding activities in public places, warning organisers to comply with the directive. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, stated this while briefing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano State. Bakori said the ban was introduced by the state government after consultations with relevant security agencies to safeguard public peace and maintain law and order. He expressed concern over reported violations of the directive, saying the security concerns that prompted the restriction remained. The commissioner said a joint security meeting had resolved that individuals, institutions or organisations wishing to organise durbar or horse-riding activities in public places must submit written requests to the police command at least 72 hours before the event.
