Rui Pinto, the computer hacker behind Football Leaks, faces dire consequences after his protected witness status was removed, according to his lawyers. Pinto was informed on Wednesday that the special security programme he has benefited from since August 2020 would end on October 10. His Portuguese and French lawyers stated that without a prior hearing, he would lose secure housing and face uncertainty over police protection. The lawyers noted that threats against Pinto are real, citing an assault in Lisbon last April.
