Cassius Newton, the 34-year-old son of former Chelsea player Eddie Newton, has died during a desert hike in the United Arab Emirates after his wife had urged him not to go, an inquest has heard. Newton was found dead in the mountainous Wadi Naqab region on July 18, hours after he last spoke to his wife. His friend, Aran Martinson, also died during the hike after the pair set off at about 07:00 local time. Area coroner Michelle Brown told Essex Coroner's Court that temperatures in the area could reach about 40C and feel even hotter inside the canyons.
