Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to protect ordinary Nigerians from economic hardship. In a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku said President Tinubu's Independence Day address revealed how far his government has drifted from the people's daily reality. Atiku challenged the President's claims that salaries and pensions have been paid on time and in full, noting that federal workers report delays and pensioners continue to protest. He also referenced Germany's recent cut in gasoline and diesel taxes to argue that relief measures are possible.
