Dr. Bolu Ogunyemi has been appointed as the first Black president of the Canadian Medical Association in its 159-year history. He is also the youngest physician to serve as the national voice of Canada's doctors since the 1800s and the first graduate of Memorial University's Faculty of Medicine to become CMA president. A double board-certified dermatologist, writer, and TEDx speaker, Ogunyemi has built a career at the intersection of healthcare, leadership, health equity, and anti-racism. He previously served as the inaugural Assistant Dean of Social Accountability at Memorial University and has held board and advisory positions with several medical organizations.
