Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked villagers in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday, killing at least 18 people. The victims were in the bush collecting firewood when the attack occurred. Some villagers are still missing. Marte is one of the areas most affected by the 17-year insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.
