Rotimi Amaechi, Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his economic policies. Amaechi said he will campaign for Tinubu in 2027 if petrol comes down to ₦600 per litre. He made the statement while reacting to Tinubu's Independence Day speech and his declaration that Nigeria had entered an "age of prosperity" during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today.
