Counsel to the Department of State Services, Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, described as absurd and unprecedented the alleged U-turn by Omoyele Sowore over the appearance of a witness subpoenaed to testify in his defence. Sowore is defending allegations of cyberbullying arising from posts published on X and Facebook in August 2025, in which he described President Bola Tinubu as a criminal and accused him of misrepresenting corruption levels. The controversy arose after the Attorney-General of the Federation appeared in connection with a subpoena requiring the DSS Director-General to appear in court. Sowore's counsel had agreed that another senior DSS official could appear instead.
